A Unison Research product is very easy to recognize: all our models are beautifully styled in an unmistakably Italian design, enriched by real wood inserts, massive gold-plated brass connectors, gorgeous rotary controls and special, custom-made output transformers that are sealed to our strict specifications, so that they can behave at their best even on the most critical conditions of humidity and condensation. All our power amplifiers can survive undamaged even to direct short circuits on the power connectors!
But it is even easier to recognize a Unison Research amplifier if you close your eyes and listen to it: superb transients, great clarity and smoothness and a responsiveness that you wouldn't expect from a valve amplifier are sure clues that you are listening to a UR product.
All our models are based on tubes and we also hold the patents for our own modifications on many types of valves.
